Implementing Cisco Enterprise Network Core Technologies (350-401 ENCOR)
Course Overview
There is a clear difference between keeping a network running and truly engineering it. The first is about reacting to alarms; the second is about understanding why traffic takes a particular path, how a failure will ripple through the design, and how to change hundreds of devices safely. Implementing Cisco Enterprise Network Core Technologies (350-401 ENCOR) is the course that helps professionals make that step.
The content moves in a logical sequence. It begins with design: how enterprise networks are structured, why redundancy and stateful switchover matter, and how QoS policies shape traffic. Next comes the switching and routing core, where you will troubleshoot trunks and EtherChannels, tune Spanning Tree with root guard and BPDU guard, and build OSPF and eBGP configurations for both IPv4 and IPv6.
The third stage is virtualization. You will look at hypervisors, virtual machines, and virtual switching, then configure VRF and secure GRE and IPsec tunnels. Overlay concepts, including VXLAN and LISP, set the scene for Cisco SD-Access and Catalyst SD-WAN.
The fourth stage focuses on assurance and network security. Here you will diagnose problems with conditional debugs, traceroute, SNMP, and syslog, collect flow data with Flexible NetFlow, and protect the control plane and management access with CoPP, ACLs, and AAA.
The final stage is network automation and AI-assisted operations. You will interpret Python code, construct JSON, understand YANG models, use NETCONF and RESTCONF, and see how Cisco Catalyst Center applies both traditional and AI-powered workflows.
By following this path, the Cisco ENCOR training gives you a complete, exam-aligned view of modern enterprise network technologies.
Course Objectives
What you will be able to do after the course:
- Design with intent: Explain 2-tier, 3-tier, fabric and cloud-based enterprise designs, and interpret QoS configurations.
- Run a stable Layer 2: Troubleshoot 802.1Q trunks and EtherChannels, and configure RSTP and MST with Spanning Tree protection features.
- Route with confidence: Configure OSPFv2/v3 with multiple areas, summarisation and filtering; build eBGP peerings; and describe policy-based routing.
- Keep services available: Implement HSRP, VRRP and NAT/PAT, interpret NTP and PTP configurations, and describe core multicast operation.
- Virtualize the network: Configure VRF, GRE and IPsec, and explain SD-Access and Catalyst SD-WAN control and data planes.
- Protect and observe: Apply AAA, ACLs and CoPP, and use Flexible NetFlow, SPAN/RSPAN/ERSPAN and IP SLA for monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Automate the routine: Work with Python, JSON, YANG, NETCONF, RESTCONF and EEM applets to automate configuration and data collection.

Request More InformationAs organisations across Oman modernise their IT infrastructure, the need for engineers who can design, secure and automate Cisco networks continues to grow. Our Cisco ENCOR course in Oman is designed for network professionals in Muscat, Sohar, Salalah and beyond who want to move from day-to-day operations to professional-level network engineering. The Implementing Cisco Enterprise Network Core Technologies (350-401 ENCOR) programme covers enterprise network design, Spanning Tree and EtherChannel, multi-area OSPF and eBGP, HSRP and VRRP redundancy, VRF and IPsec tunnelling, Cisco SD-Access and Catalyst SD-WAN, AAA and ACL security, and network automation with Python and NETCONF. This 350-401 ENCOR training in Oman follows the current v1.2 exam blueprint and supports engineers in the oil and gas, banking, telecom and public sectors as they prepare for the core exam of CCNP Enterprise.
FAQs
Is the ENCOR course the same as CCNP Enterprise?
Not exactly. ENCOR is the course that prepares you for the 350-401 exam, which is the core exam for CCNP Enterprise. To earn the full CCNP Enterprise certification, you must pass ENCOR and one concentration exam of your choice.
What will I learn in Cisco ENCOR training?
You will learn enterprise architecture, Layer 2 switching, OSPF and BGP routing, IP services, virtualization, network assurance, infrastructure security, and network automation, following the six domains of the 350-401 blueprint.
Who benefits most from this course?
Engineers and administrators who already handle Cisco networks and want to progress to professional-level work, as well as systems, data center, and operations staff who rely on a deep understanding of the network.
Do I need CCNA before taking ENCOR?
CCNA is not mandatory. However, CCNA-level knowledge is strongly recommended because the course builds directly on routing, switching, and IP addressing fundamentals.
What credential do I receive after passing 350-401?
Passing the 350-401 ENCOR exam earns the Cisco Certified Specialist – Enterprise Core certification. Attending the course alone does not award a Cisco certification; the exam must be passed separately.
How does ENCOR fit into the CCIE path?
ENCOR is the qualifying exam for CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure. After passing it, candidates become eligible to attempt the CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure lab, which is a separate, demanding practical exam.
Are wireless topics still part of ENCOR?
No. The current v1.2 exam, in effect since 19 March 2026, focuses on wired enterprise networking. Cisco moved wireless content to a dedicated wireless certification track.
Why should network teams learn automation now?
Manual configuration does not scale well and is prone to human error. Knowing Python, APIs, NETCONF and RESTCONF lets engineers make consistent changes, collect data faster and support the automated tools many organisations are adopting.
