Course Overview

Workplaces now connect far more than computers. Phones, tablets, printers, cameras, smart building systems, and cloud applications all depend on the same network. Supporting this mix requires technicians who understand both wired and wireless networking, and who can recognize how security and cloud services fit in. The Cisco Certified Support Technician (CCST) Networking (100-150) course provides that broad, practical foundation.

The course begins with how modern networks are structured. You will learn about LANs, WANs, the internet and cloud services, understand performance factors such as bandwidth, throughput and latency, and explore the protocols that devices use to find each other and exchange data, including TCP, UDP, DHCP, DNS and HTTP.

Next, you will look at how devices are connected and addressed. The course covers IPv4 and IPv6 addressing, public and private ranges, and introductory subnetting, along with copper, fiber, and wireless media. You will learn to configure network settings on a variety of end devices, and you will understand the roles of switches, routers, wireless access points, and firewalls in a typical network.

The final topics prepare you to support and protect that network. You will learn a structured troubleshooting process, use diagnostic tools such as ping, traceroute, ipconfig, and nslookup, and access devices through the console and SSH. Security topics cover wireless encryption, endpoint protection, firewalls, and common threats. This Cisco Certified Support Technician course is aligned with the 100-150 CCST Networking exam.
