Course Overview

Networks today carry far more than email and file transfers. They connect cloud platforms, wireless devices, cameras, voice systems and business applications, often across several locations. To support them, engineers need a broad understanding of how wired, wireless, security and automation technologies work together. The Cisco Certified Network Associate (200-301 CCNA) course delivers that broad foundation.

The course starts by building a clear mental model of the network: how the OSI and TCP/IP layers relate, how devices are addressed with IPv4 and IPv6, and how traffic is forwarded through switches and routers. You will practice subnetting, compare network topologies, and learn the fundamentals of wireless communication and virtualization, including virtual machines and containers.

From there, you configure the building blocks of an enterprise network. On switches, you set up VLANs, trunks, EtherChannel, and Spanning Tree. On routers, you configure static routing and OSPFv2 and explore first-hop redundancy. For wireless, you learn how lightweight access points and wireless LAN controllers deliver secure, centrally managed Wi-Fi. IP services such as DHCP, NAT, DNS, NTP, SNMP, and syslog tie everything together.

The course also prepares you for how networks are secured and managed today. Security topics include ACLs, port security, Layer 2 protections, VPNs, AAA, and WPA3 wireless security. Automation topics introduce SDN, controller-based management, REST APIs, JSON, Ansible and Terraform, and how AI and machine learning are used to support network operations. This Cisco Certified Network Associate course is aligned with the 200-301 CCNA exam.
