Course Overview

When an incident closes, someone will eventually ask what happened. Which alert started it? What indicators were found? Who did what, and when? Cortex XSOAR is designed to hold those answers in one case, and Palo Alto Networks Cortex XSOAR training shows how to set that up properly.

EDU-380 is a four-day, instructor-led course based on Cortex XSOAR 6.8. It focuses on case management, process automation, orchestration, and analyst workflow for SOC, CERT, CSIRT, and SOAR engineers.

Visibility starts with data. The course covers enabling integrations, then classification and mapping, which determine how an incoming event becomes an incident and which details are displayed. The layout builder then lets you design the page analysts use, so the evidence they need is on screen when a case opens.

Playbooks supply the process. Participants see a complete phishing-response workflow built step by step, so each decision and action is recorded in the case. Indicators and threat intelligence management add context, and role-based access controls decide who can see and change what.

The outline also includes solution architecture, Docker, automation development and debugging, the marketplace and content management, jobs and scheduling, and integration development. Palo Alto Networks requires the Cortex XSOAR Analyst digital learning beforehand and states that proficiency in writing code is not required. Teams that record work in one place find reviews, handovers, and post-incident questions much easier to answer.

Course Objectives

  • Explain how Cortex XSOAR supports case management and analyst workflow.
  • Enable integrations that bring events and context into the platform.
  • Classify events and map their fields to the data analysts need.
  • Construct incident layouts that put key evidence first.
  • Develop playbooks that record each automated and manual step.
  • Manage indicators and threat intelligence data.
  • Schedule jobs and manage content from the marketplace.
  • Control user access with role-based access controls.
  • Develop and debug automations that support the workflow.

Prerequisites

Participants must complete the Cortex XSOAR Analyst digital learning. Participants who have experience with scripting, the use of Python and JavaScript, and the use of JSON data objects will likely be able to apply what they learn more quickly than participants without such experience. However, completion of the course does not require proficiency in writing code.

Target Audience

  • SOC engineers and security operations staff: you handle repetitive triage that a playbook could carry.
  • SOAR engineers: you build and maintain the integrations and automations behind the process.
  • CERT and CSIRT team members: you need consistent case records and repeatable response steps.
  • Managed security service providers (MSSPs): you deliver the same response process across teams or customers.
  • System integrators and service delivery partners: you configure and hand over XSOAR environments.
  • Professional services engineers: you need a structured view of the whole platform.
  • Security engineers and administrators: you are asked to connect security tools into one workflow.

Palo Alto Networks Cortex XSOAR Training in Qatar: Doha, Lusail and Ras Laffan

Palo Alto Networks Cortex XSOAR training in Qatar is aimed at security teams working in energy, finance, and government. Qatar National Vision 2030 and the National Cyber Security Agency keep attention on secure digital infrastructure, from the business districts of Doha and Lusail to industrial operations at Ras Laffan. In those settings, every incident needs a clear record: what triggered it, which indicators were found, and what action was taken. Cortex XSOAR brings that record into one case, and EDU-380 teaches how to configure it. If you are looking for an EDU-380 course in Doha, the outline on this page shows how the four days are organised.

FAQs

What is the Cortex XSOAR EDU-380 course about?

It is a four-day, instructor-led Palo Alto Networks course on Cortex XSOAR, based on version 6.8. It teaches resource orchestration, process automation, case management, and analyst workflow. You configure integrations, build playbooks and layouts, and manage indicators, content, jobs, and user roles.

Which parts of the platform does the course cover?

The outline covers core functionality, integrations, playbooks, classification and mapping, layouts, solution architecture, Docker, automation development and debugging, content management, indicators and threat intelligence, jobs, role-based access controls, and integration development. If your deployment runs another XSOAR version, ask the team how closely the labs match.

Which roles benefit most?

Palo Alto Networks names security operations and SOAR engineers, MSSPs, service delivery partners, system integrators, and professional services engineers, and designs the course for SOC, CERT, and CSIRT engineers. Anyone responsible for how incidents are recorded and handled in XSOAR will find the content relevant.

What do I need before I attend?

Palo Alto Networks requires completion of the Cortex XSOAR Analyst digital learning. It also states that completing EDU-380 does not require proficiency in writing code. Partners note that experience with scripting, Python, JavaScript, and JSON data can help, but this is advice rather than a requirement.

What skills will the course give me?

You will practise bringing data in through integrations, structuring incidents through classification and mapping, designing layouts, and building playbooks that document each step. You will also practise managing indicators, scheduling jobs, and setting access roles. The level you reach depends on your experience before the course and your practice afterwards.

Why does one consistent case record matter?

It lets anyone reviewing an incident see what happened without piecing together emails and console notes. A consistent record supports handovers between shifts, makes lessons easier to find, and shortens the time needed to answer questions after an incident. Playbooks and layouts help create that record automatically.

How can the course support professional development?

It develops practical skills in case management and security automation that relate to SOC and incident response work. Colleagues can also see the playbooks and layouts you build. The course does not guarantee a job, salary increase, or promotion, as those depend on factors outside training.
