Course Overview

Every change to a Check Point firewall passes through an administrator. A new application needs access, a department moves to another subnet, an audit flags an overly permissive rule. How those requests are handled decides whether the network stays protected or slowly drifts out of control. The Check Point Certified Security Administrator (CCSA) course prepares professionals to handle that work properly.

What the course covers. Built on the R82 release, the course introduces the Check Point Quantum platform from the ground up. Learners explore Gaia on the management server, a dedicated log server and gateway cluster members, then learn to work confidently in SmartConsole. They manage administrator accounts and permissions, create network and service objects, and build Security Policies whose rule order produces exactly the intended result.

How it builds. Once the fundamentals are in place, the course introduces policy layers, which split a large Rule Base into manageable, reusable parts. It then adds the controls that make firewall administration genuinely granular: Identity Awareness for user-based rules, HTTPS Inspection for encrypted traffic, Application Control and URL Filtering for web access, and Autonomous Threat Prevention for malware and exploit protection.

Why it matters. Configuration is only half the job. The course gives equal weight to security monitoring, showing learners how to tune log management, filter events with queries, and track system health. That combination of building, verifying, and watching is what keeps enterprise network security reliable over time, and it is the core of the Check Point CCSA training path.

Course Objectives

Participants who complete this course will be able to:

  • Explain the roles of the Security Management Server, Security Gateway, and SmartConsole within Check Point’s Three-Tier Architecture.
  • Use the Gaia Portal and Gaia CLI to explore and administer management, logging, and gateway components.
  • Set up administrator accounts with appropriate profiles and handle session takeover and concurrent policy work.
  • Define and organize network objects, service objects and gateway objects for use in access rules.
  • Design a Rule Base with correct rule ordering, then verify, install and test the resulting Security Policy.
  • Add Ordered Layers and Inline Layers to keep policies modular and to control how traffic is inspected.
  • Analyze security events using log queries and track gateway and server status through the Monitoring Blade.
  • Configure Identity Awareness, HTTPS Inspection, Application Control and URL Filtering within the access policy.
  • Activate Autonomous Threat Prevention and validate that its protections are working

For organizations across Saudi Arabia, network security is closely tied to governance. Many teams work to align their controls with the National Cybersecurity Authority’s Essential Cybersecurity Controls, and that requires firewall policies that are documented, deliberate, and regularly reviewed. Check Point CCSA training in Saudi Arabia helps IT professionals build exactly that discipline. The course covers structured rule design, administrator permissions, security event logging, and threat prevention on the Check Point R82 platform. Those skills are directly useful to security teams in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and beyond, whether they protect a bank, a government entity, an energy operator or a growing private company. For individual professionals, the Check Point Certified Security Administrator course also provides focused preparation for the CCSA exam. It is a practical way to strengthen firewall administration skills within the Kingdom’s evolving cybersecurity landscape.

FAQs

What will I learn in the Check Point CCSA course?

You will learn to administer a Check Point Quantum environment: working in Gaia and SmartConsole, managing administrators and objects, building and installing Security Policies, using policy layers, monitoring logs, and configuring Identity Awareness, HTTPS Inspection, Application Control, URL Filtering, and Autonomous Threat Prevention.

Which version of CCSA does this training follow?

The content is aligned with Check Point CCSA R82, the current version, which corresponds to exam 156-215.82.

Do I need prior Check Point experience?

It is not mandatory, but it helps. Check Point recommends a foundation in networking, TCP/IP, and Windows or Linux administration. It also suggests the Check Point Deployment Administrator (CPDA) course and some hands-on time with Check Point products before sitting the exam.

Will I be certified once I finish the course?

Completing the course does not make you certified on its own. Certification is granted by Check Point after you pass the CCSA exam (156-215.82). The course is designed to give you the knowledge and practice to prepare for it.

How is the CCSA exam taken?

The exam is scheduled through Pearson VUE. You can sit it at an authorized test center or take it online with OnVUE proctoring. Check Point’s prep guide lists 100 multiple-choice questions in 90 minutes, with 70% required to pass.

What technical skills will I be able to apply at work?

You will be able to structure and maintain firewall policies, control web and application use, inspect encrypted traffic, enable threat prevention, and investigate events through logs. These are core tasks in security policy management.

Where does CCSA lead in the Check Point certification path?

CCSA is the foundation level. The next step is the Check Point Certified Security Expert (CCSE), which covers advanced topics such as management high availability, site-to-site VPN and upgrades.
