Check Point Certified Security Expert (CCSE)
Course Overview
At some point, every growing Check Point environment reaches the limits of basic administration. A second data center needs a VPN tunnel. The management server becomes a single point of failure. A major version upgrade can no longer be postponed. The Check Point Certified Security Expert (CCSE) course prepares experienced administrators for exactly these situations.
Where the course starts. Built on the R82 release, CCSE assumes CCSA-level knowledge and moves directly into advanced work. The opening module covers Management High Availability: deploying a Secondary Security Management Server, keeping its database synchronized, and taking control during failover. Advanced policy management follows, covering Updatable Objects, manually defined static and hide NAT, and managing remote gateways from a Management Server located behind NAT.
What it adds. Learners then design site-to-site VPN communities, using either pre-shared keys or certificates, and connect to gateways managed by other organizations. They also configure link selection and ISP redundancy. On the visibility side, SmartEvent brings event correlation and targeted alerts, while the Compliance Blade highlights where the policy departs from best practice.
Why it matters. The last part of the course focuses on safe change. Learners upgrade gateways, push hotfixes through the Central Deployment Tool, migrate the management database to new versions or hardware, and deploy an ElasticXL cluster for scalable throughput. Together, these skills make Check Point CCSE training the bridge between capable administration and true enterprise-scale security engineering. The course also aligns with the CCSE R82 exam.
Course Objectives
Participants who complete this course will be able to:
- Build and maintain Management High Availability with a Primary and Secondary Security Management Server, including failover testing.
- Apply Updatable Objects in policy rules to keep access aligned with changing cloud service addresses.
- Define static and hide NAT manually and operate a Management Server behind NAT to control branch gateways.
- Configure VPN communities between internally and externally managed gateways with suitable authentication methods.
- Set up link selection and ISP redundancy, and test failover and load sharing across internet links.
- Use SmartEvent to correlate logs and raise alerts, and run Compliance Blade reports to strengthen policy.
- Plan and perform Security Gateway upgrades and hotfix deployment using the Central Deployment Tool.
- Migrate a Security Management Server by exporting and importing its database, then confirm that policies and gateways work as before.
- Deploy and monitor an ElasticXL Security Gateway Cluster for load balancing and resilience.

Large Saudi organizations often run security across several sites, cloud services, and partner connections, and Essential Cybersecurity Controls from the National Cybersecurity Authority expect those environments to stay resilient and well governed. Check Point CCSE training in Saudi Arabia helps experienced security professionals meet that standard. The course covers Management High Availability, site-to-site VPN with partner gateways, advanced NAT, SmartEvent monitoring, compliance reporting, upgrades, and ElasticXL clustering on Check Point R82. These skills are relevant to engineering teams in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, and other cities supporting banks, government entities, energy companies, and large enterprises. For professionals who already hold the CCSA, the Check Point Certified Security Expert course is the logical next step and offers structured preparation for the CCSE exam. It strengthens the advanced firewall expertise that complex networks in the Kingdom depend on.
FAQs
What will I learn in the Check Point CCSE course?
You will learn to run Check Point at an advanced level. Topics include managing high availability, advanced policy and NAT, site-to-site VPN with ISP redundancy, SmartEvent and the Compliance Blade, upgrades and hotfixes, database migration, and ElasticXL clustering.
Which version of CCSE does this training follow?
The content follows Check Point CCSE R82, which corresponds to exam 156-315.82.
Is CCSE suitable for someone new to Check Point?
Not as a first course. CCSE builds on CCSA knowledge, and Check Point recommends at least six months of practical experience managing a Quantum Security Environment before taking it.
What do I need in order to become CCSE certified?
You need two things: a passed CCSA exam from R8x or newer, which can be expired, and a passing score on exam 156-315.82. The training prepares you for the exam but does not award the credential itself.
How is the CCSE exam delivered?
The exam is booked through Pearson VUE and can be taken at a test center or online through OnVUE. Check Point’s prep guide lists 100 multiple-choice questions, a 90-minute time limit, and a 70% pass mark.
Why does the course include the Compliance Blade?
The Compliance Blade checks the security configuration against best practices and regulatory requirements. It helps teams find weak settings before an auditor or attacker does, which supports governance-driven environments.
What practical skills will I be able to apply?
You will be able to build redundant management, connect sites and partners over VPN, control complex NAT, correlate security events, and carry out upgrades and migrations with less disruption.
What comes after CCSE?
CCSE is the second certification level. Check Point’s next designation is the Certified Security Master (CCSM), which is earned through additional Infinity Specialist accreditations.
