Course Overview

Large organisations rarely suffer from a shortage of alerts. They suffer from a shortage of analyst time. When a security operations centre handles thousands of events from many tools, the work that matters gets buried under work that could have run itself. EDU-380 is Palo Alto Networks Cortex XSOAR training aimed at fixing that imbalance with automation and orchestration.

The four-day, instructor-led course is based on Cortex XSOAR 6.8 and written for SOC, CERT, CSIRT, and SOAR engineers. It begins with the platform’s core features, then shows how to enable and configure integrations with other security tools. Hands-on labs let participants test each build rather than only watch it.

Volume is managed through classification and mapping, which sort incoming events into incidents and place the right data in the right fields. Layouts then give analysts a working view for triage and investigation. Playbooks handle the repeatable steps, and a complete phishing workflow is built as the course’s worked example.

Larger deployments raise their own questions, so the course also covers solution architecture, Docker, scheduled jobs, and role-based access controls. Indicators and threat intelligence management, the marketplace and content management, automation development and debugging, and integration development complete the outline.

Participants must first complete the Cortex XSOAR Analyst digital learning, and Palo Alto Networks notes that proficiency in writing code is not required. Teams that standardise their response steps this way spend less time on routine triage and more on the cases that need judgement.

Course Objectives

  • Enable and configure integrations that feed events into Cortex XSOAR.
  • Classify and map incoming events so incidents contain usable, correctly placed data.
  • Create tasks and playbooks that automate routine analyst steps.
  • Walk through an end-to-end phishing playbook and explain each stage.
  • Build incident layouts that speed up triage and investigation.
  • Write, test, and debug automations, including how Docker supports them.
  • Manage indicators, threat intelligence, and marketplace content.
  • Set up scheduled jobs and apply role-based access to users.
  • Outline the solution architecture and the steps for developing an integration.

Prerequisites

Participants must complete the Cortex XSOAR Analyst digital learning. Participants who have experience with scripting, the use of Python and JavaScript, and the use of JSON data objects will likely be able to apply what they learn more quickly than participants without such experience. However, completion of the course does not require proficiency in writing code.

Target Audience

  • SOC engineers and security operations staff: you handle repetitive triage that a playbook could carry.
  • SOAR engineers: you build and maintain the integrations and automations behind the process.
  • CERT and CSIRT team members: you need consistent case records and repeatable response steps.
  • Managed security service providers (MSSPs): you deliver the same response process across teams or customers.
  • System integrators and service delivery partners: you configure and hand over XSOAR environments.
  • Professional services engineers: you need a structured view of the whole platform.
  • Security engineers and administrators: you are asked to connect security tools into one workflow.

Palo Alto Networks Cortex XSOAR Training in Saudi Arabia: Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam

Palo Alto Networks Cortex XSOAR training in Saudi Arabia is relevant to security operations teams in banking, energy, telecom, and government, where alert volumes are high and response times are watched closely. Organisations in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam continue to add digital services under Vision 2030, and each new service adds events for analysts to triage. The National Cybersecurity Authority publishes cybersecurity controls for government bodies and critical national infrastructure operators, so consistent, documented incident handling is part of the job. If you are comparing an EDU-380 course in Riyadh or Cortex XSOAR SOAR training in Jeddah, the outline shows what the four days cover.

FAQs

What will the EDU-380 Cortex XSOAR course teach me?

It teaches you to automate and orchestrate security operations on Cortex XSOAR. Over four instructor-led days, based on Cortex XSOAR 6.8, you configure integrations, develop playbooks, build incident layouts, and manage content, indicators, jobs, and user roles. A phishing workflow ties the modules together as a worked example.

Which modules are in the EDU-380 outline?

The modules include core functionality, integrations, playbook development, classification and mapping, layout builder, solution architecture, and Docker. They continue with automation development and debugging, marketplace and content management, indicators and threat intelligence management, jobs and scheduling, role-based access controls, and integration development. Teams using another XSOAR version should confirm how closely the labs match.

Who in a Saudi security team should attend?

Palo Alto Networks lists security operations and SOAR engineers, MSSPs, service delivery partners, system integrators, and professional services engineers. Within a Saudi organisation, that points to SOC and incident response staff who build or maintain automated response. Analysts new to XSOAR start with the prerequisite digital learning.

What do I need to complete first?

Palo Alto Networks requires the Cortex XSOAR Analyst digital learning before the course. It states that writing code proficiently is not a requirement for completion. Course notes from partners add that scripting, Python, JavaScript, and JSON experience can help you absorb the automation material faster.

What practical skills will I gain?

You gain practice in connecting tools through integrations, building playbooks with tasks, sorting and mapping events into incidents, and designing layouts for analysts. You also practise debugging automations and setting access controls. The depth you reach depends on your starting point and on how often you use the platform afterwards.

Does EDU-380 lead to a certification?

Not by itself. Training, an exam, and a certification are separate things, and EDU-380 is training only. Palo Alto Networks has moved to role-based certifications and retired the PCSAE exam in 2025, so review its current catalogue for any Cortex XSOAR exam. Attending does not award a certification or guarantee a pass.

Why does automation matter for a busy SOC?

Because analyst time is the limiting resource. Playbooks take over steps that repeat, such as enriching an indicator or checking a sender, and leave people to review results and decide. That keeps response consistent across shifts and shortens the time between an alert and a documented action.

Can this course support my career development?

It adds a practical automation skill to SOC and incident response experience, which can broaden the work you take on. It does not guarantee a job, higher pay or a promotion, since those depend on your employer, your wider experience and many other factors.
