Course Overview

When a core banking database or billing platform stops, the cost is counted in minutes. Veritas InfoScale is built to prevent that. It manages the storage beneath critical UNIX/Linux applications and moves them to a healthy server when something fails. Veritas InfoScale 8.0 Fundamentals training gives administrators a working foundation in both halves of the product, storage management and high availability, in a single five-day course.

The course is a condensed subset of two separate five-day classes: Veritas InfoScale Storage 8.0 for UNIX/Linux: Administration and Veritas InfoScale Availability 8.0 for UNIX/Linux: Administration. Rather than covering every advanced option, it focuses on the tasks an administrator needs first.

On the storage side, learners install and license InfoScale, then work with Veritas Volume Manager (VxVM) disks, disk groups, and volumes. They build volumes with different layouts, mirror and resize them, move data between systems, and administer the Veritas File System (VxFS), including thin provisioning and fragmentation control.

The availability side introduces Veritas Cluster Server (VCS). Learners study clustering concepts and cluster communication, then build service groups and resources for an application using both online and offline configuration methods. They also configure notifications and triggers, see how VCS responds to resource faults and interconnect failures, and learn how the Intelligent Monitoring Framework (IMF) speeds up fault detection.

In enterprise terms, the course helps teams run storage and clusters consistently, test failover before it is needed, and diagnose faults with confidence.

Course Objectives

  • Describe the InfoScale product suite and its cloud support options.
  • Install, license, and configure an InfoScale Storage environment.
  • Create and manage VxVM disks, disk groups and volumes with suitable layouts.

InfoScale 8.0 Course in Riyadh and Jeddah for Vision 2030 Critical Systems

As Vision 2030 moves government, banking and energy services online, more Saudi organisations run applications that customers expect to be available around the clock. The National Cybersecurity Authority’s Essential Cybersecurity Controls also ask organisations to plan for resilience and continuity, which makes reliable storage and clustering part of day-to-day operations. Veritas InfoScale training in Saudi Arabia gives UNIX/Linux administrators in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam a practical grounding in Veritas Volume Manager, Veritas File System and Cluster Server failover. Telecom operators and financial institutions running large Linux estates will find the service group and fault-handling topics especially relevant. Teams can check upcoming dates on our Veritas InfoScale course calendar or arrange a private InfoScale batch for your data centre team. FAQs

What is the Veritas InfoScale 8.0 Fundamentals course?

Veritas InfoScale 8.0 Fundamentals is a five-day course that introduces both InfoScale Storage and InfoScale Availability for UNIX/Linux. It condenses two separate five-day administration courses into one, covering the essential tasks rather than every advanced feature. It suits administrators who need to support InfoScale environments without first attending two full-length classes.

What experience do I need before joining InfoScale training in Riyadh?

You need knowledge of and hands-on experience with UNIX/Linux system administration. In practice, that means being comfortable at the command line, managing disks and file systems, editing configuration files, and starting or stopping services. Prior knowledge of InfoScale itself is not required, because the course starts with installation and the product suite.

Does the course cover both Volume Manager and Cluster Server?

Yes, the course covers both. The first part focuses on Veritas Volume Manager (VxVM) and Veritas File System (VxFS) for storage management. The second part covers Veritas Cluster Server (VCS) for high availability, including service groups, resources, notifications, and fault handling. That combination shows how storage and clustering work together to keep an application running.

Who should attend Veritas InfoScale Fundamentals training?

The course suits UNIX/Linux system administrators, system engineers, and technical support staff who manage or support InfoScale environments. Network and SAN administrators and systems integration staff also benefit because storage layout and cluster communication affect their work. It is a good fit for anyone joining a team that already runs InfoScale in production.

How is this course different from the full InfoScale Storage and Availability courses?

This course is a subset of the two full courses, so it covers the basics of each in five days rather than ten. The full InfoScale Storage 8.0 and InfoScale Availability 8.0 administration courses each go deeper into their area. Learners who need advanced storage or clustering skills later can move on to one of those courses.

What practical skills will I gain from the labs?

Learners practise installing InfoScale, creating disk groups and volumes, and mirroring, resizing, and moving storage between systems. On the cluster side, they build service groups for a sample application, test failover, run a virtual fire drill, and observe how VCS reacts to faults. These exercises prepare administrators for routine work and for diagnosing problems under pressure.

Why does high availability clustering matter for enterprise applications?

Clustering keeps an application available when a server, network link, or storage path fails. Veritas Cluster Server monitors each resource and moves the service to a healthy node when a fault is detected. For banks, telecom operators, and government services, this can turn a long outage into a short, controlled failover with far less impact on users.

Is there an exam or certification included with this course?

No exam or certification is confirmed as part of this course. It is a training programme that builds skills and lab experience in InfoScale storage and clustering. Attending the course does not by itself grant any vendor credential. Learners interested in certification should ask our team about the current options and requirements before enrolling.
