FAQs

To build competence to plan, conduct, report, and follow up internal audits against ISO-based management systems using the process approach, risk-based thinking, and the guidance of ISO 19011. Participants learn to evaluate conformity, performance, and effectiveness—not just checklist compliance.

Training centres on ISO 19011 for auditing and applies it to common standards such as ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environment), ISO 45001 (OH&S), ISO/IEC 27001 (Information Security), ISO 22301 (Business Continuity), and ISO/IEC 20000-1 (IT Service). Integrated Management System (IMS) auditing is also covered.

Familiarity with at least one ISO management system standard (e.g., ISO 9001) and concepts such as PDCA, risk and opportunities, documented information, and performance metrics. Reading your applicable standard before the course is strongly recommended.

It shows how to audit shared clauses (context, leadership, planning, support, performance, improvement), trace end-to-end process audit trails across QMS/EMS/OHS/ISMS, avoid duplication, and use combined findings where appropriate.

You’ll learn to write evidence-led findings that reference specific clauses/requirements, classify them as major, minor, or opportunities for improvement, and set containment, corrective actions, responsibilities, and due dates, followed by effectiveness verification.

Many schemes issue a credential that is valid for three years, maintained through CPD (e.g., 15–20 hours/year) and evidence of audit activity (audit log). Specific renewal terms depend on the issuing body; maintaining competence is essential.
